Commissioner Update #2
Hey Everyone,
In the middle of June, I participated in a budget hearing for the law and court committee. From about 10 o’clock in the morning until 2 PM, we heard from all of the departments and their requests. Our county staff is now reviewing the numbers and determining where we will have to make adjustments to prepare for 2026. I have a county meeting this Thursday, the Law and Courts committee meeting where we will be hearing from Advance Peace. That will be at 6:15 PM.
Personally as your Ingham County commissioner I will be planning to host a community event on August 17 right before school starts on August 20 specifically for southside folks and anybody else across town that wants to come and enjoy the festivities. Outside of that I have a high school entrepreneurship program that I just wrapped up for the summer. I worked with six students from Everett, Sexton, Waverly, and Eastern high school. We had our youth vendor event at the Lansing mall on July 3rd. If you haven’t heard about it, I’m also on the committee to host the Michigan Heritage rodeo in September. This event will be on September 19 and 20th, and you are all welcome to join us for the festivities. It will be an amazing event the first rodeo of its kind held here in mid Michigan.
I have attached a few flyers that the Ingham County housing trust fund sent me about our housing resources. We have a fund of money for people to repair their houses and then we also have a down payment assistance program through Ingham County. More information is below.

Do not apply for this grant if you’re looking to cover staffing needs, field trips, etc. This is a basic overview, if you have more questions please reach out to me.
